Valspar Corporation Anchors New Rail-Served Business Park

There really is no substitute for rail.

The Valspar Corporation wanted to construct a new manufacturing and distribution facility, and needed rail access for the delivery of some production components. They investigated rail-served sites all over Pennsylvania to find the best site to serve their Northeast distribution needs. What they found was the Lebanon Rails Business Park – one of the last rail-served Parks with lots still available for sale on the East Coast.

Rail lines run along the southern edge of the North Lebanon Business Park.

The Lebanon Rails Business Park (LRBP) has been zoned for industrial use for decades, but had lain vacant for many years because of a lack of infrastructure. The Valspar Corporation was willing to begin constructing a facility while infrastructure was being installed, and the LVEDC and Valspar worked together to finally fulfill the vision of a rail-served business park within blocks of the Lebanon City line.

Valspar's new facility will employ 120 people by 2007.The total infrastructure extension cost over $5,000,000, and was funded by State grants and loans as well as some local support and the good will of the LVEDC. At build-out, the Park will have created an estimated 1,300 jobs and will more than pay for itself in increased tax revenues.  Valspar completed their facility in 2005, and expects to hire 120 employees by 2007.  The Valspar Corporation has also graciously offered to provide paint for all of the homes constructed by Habitat for Humanity in Lebanon County.

The rail service at the LRBP has attracted a lot of attention from companies around the country, and the LRBP will certainly begin to fill up with more new manufacturing facilities very soon.
